Craftsman and Prairie influences

Broad eaves, deep porches, horizontal lines, and visible craftsmanship: the informal end of the neighborhood.

Wide overhanging eaves with exposed rafter tails; low-pitched roofs; porches with heavy square or tapered columns; horizontal emphasis in the windows and trim; natural materials shown honestly. These houses read as relaxed next to their Colonial neighbors, and they are often the ones with the best porches.
